The launch of GeForce RTX3060 is imminent — Nvidia announced the event of 1/12

Nvidia has announced that it will host an all-digital GeForce RTX event on January 12, which will likely include the official launch of the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3000 series laptop-based models.

The event, which promises to showcase "the latest innovations in gaming and graphics," will be an ideal opportunity to announce mid-range RTX graphics cards targeting the $300 range. The event could also be the first public showing of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, which is rumored to be released in February.

The event, titled "GeForce RTX: Game On," will be hosted by GeForce Vice President Jeff Fisher, and will be the first time that Jensen Huang will be presenting the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 We probably won't see the new GPUs out of the oven as we did. Still, Nvidia is definitely cooking up some new hardware.

Most likely to be announced in a big way is the GeForce RTX 3060. This graphics card will sit below the $400 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (effectively less powerful than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070) and will likely offer impressive 1440p resolution gaming at 60 frames per second. RTX 3060 is a $1,000 It can be considered a mainstream graphics card for the PC that will sell for around $1,000 and showcase Nvidia's latest ray tracing and DLSS technologies.

The event will feature two new graphics cards: a 12GB model to rival the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB and a 6GB RTX 3060, which was previously slated to become the RTX 3050 Ti.

Since this event is part of the 2021 online CES show, the focus is also expected to be on next-generation RTX Mobile GPUs; Nvidia has previously used the CES show to announce new laptop cards, and the 2021 CES, GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile and RTX 3070 Mobile would seem to be a logical time to show off the GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile and RTX 3070 Mobile.

These laptop-grade graphics cards are set to come in standard and low-power Max-Q variants. The latter will be slightly less powerful but likely to be smaller and more efficient, so don't be surprised if they end up in some of the best gaming laptops next year.

According to the latest rumors, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (which has not yet been officially announced) has been delayed until February; it is not certain if the rumored Ti card will be revealed or released in February.

We corroborated reports that the 20GB GeForce RTX 3080 Ti could be released between February 11 and 17. So with that in mind, Nvidia could announce the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti at a January event and elaborate on a February release.

However, the RTX 3080 Ti is set to feature the same GPU as the GeForce RTX 3080, only with boosted video memory. Therefore, Team Green may not use the event to redo what was covered in the first reveal of the GeForce RTX 3000 series.

Nevertheless, leaked benchmarks reaffirm that the RTX 3080 Ti is coming. And given that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is so hard to find places to buy, the availability of another variant of that card will certainly bring a smile to the face of frustrated gaming PC builders.

If you want to attend Nvidia's January event, GeForce RTX: Game On will be streaming online at 12 p.m. ET on Nvidia's website.
