In an upcoming Windows 10 update, Microsoft plans to remove a potentially little-used feature, the "Shake to Minimize" feature, a decision that risks the wrath of some users.

According to "Windows Latest," an internal memo referenced in the latest preview build of Windows 10, Microsoft plans to continue removing some of the less-used features, with "Aero Shake" being the latest.

Currently, this feature allows users to left-click on a program window and wave the cursor back and forth to instantly minimize all open windows to the taskbar.

This feature may be attractive to users who want to make their workspace a little cleaner by organizing unnecessarily open tabs. However, some users do not overlook the fact that this feature can be triggered accidentally by simply dragging a window while performing a mouse action similar to "shaking tabs". For example, they may just have shaky hands.

But others, like software engineer Rafael Rivera, are already quite excited about the news:

The "Aero Shake" feature has been in Microsoft's operating system since Windows 7, but Not many users are aware of its existence.

Instead, most users will opt to use the Windows + M shortcut to minimize all tabs and achieve similar results. It should be noted that, unlike "Aero Shake", there is currently no other shortcut on the taskbar that can minimize anything other than a specific program window.

In current builds of Windows 10, there is an option to manually disable this feature using the Group Policy Editor or Windows Registry Editor, but this is not the easiest task.

The update plan is still subject to change, but it is expected that this feature will be disabled sometime next year.

Windows Latest also reports that Microsoft plans to make the pre-installed Snipping Tool optional in the New Year. Microsoft confirmed that for the first time in 2018, the legacy Snipping Tool will be discontinued in favor of a more modern "Snip & Sketch" feature.
