AirPods Max engraving may be the key to getting the $549 headphones sooner than expected; rather than waiting 12-14 weeks (the current shipping schedule for each color), you can have your new headphones in just a few weeks.

As MacRumors noted, orders for custom-engraved AirPods Max have a shorter shipping time than non-personalized orders. Strange, right? We tried it on the silver model, and sure enough, the engraving was added (for free, by the way), and the estimated shipping time was shortened by more than four weeks.

You can still get AirPods Max with the poop emoji between February 1 and February 5, but that's an improvement over the March 8 to March 22 shipping schedule.

It is odd that personalized devices take longer to ship than those sent right off the production line. Nonetheless, this is good news for those who felt discouraged by the long shipping estimates that arose shortly after the AirPods Max became available for pre-order on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the hack is only available for silver and space gray models. If you were hoping to get your hands on the Sky Blue, Green, or Pink Apple noise-canceling headphones sooner rather than later, check out the imprint yourself. Maybe you'll get lucky.

The AirPods Max can be engraved with emojis, letters, and numbers for free as long as you purchase the headphones themselves for $549. After selecting the desired color, the option to add Apple Care will appear, followed by the option to add personalized engraving.
