Apple has unveiled its new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon. This MacBook Pro is designed to dramatically improve performance and battery life, making Windows laptops the center of attention.

The new MacBook Pro 2020 with Apple Silicon offers up to 2.8 times faster performance and up to 20 hours of battery life, while maintaining the same design as the previous model. This is all thanks to the new Apple M1 chip. Here's everything you need to know about the new MacBook Pro.

The Apple Silicon MacBook Pro 13-inch is available for order starting November 10 and will begin shipping on November 17. Pricing for the laptop starts at $1,299, which is the same as the previous model.

The $1,299 MacBook Pro comes with Apple's M1 chip, 8GB of memory, and 256GB of storage, while the $1,499 model increases storage to 512GB.

The reason to get the new MacBook Pro 13-inch is Apple's M1 chip. Apple claims that this M1 chip is 2.8 times faster than the processor in the previous MacBook Pro. It is also rated 3 times faster than the best-selling Windows notebook in its class.

The M1 chip has an eight-core CPU with four high-power cores and four high-efficiency cores; the GPU is claimed to be up to five times faster than a 13-inch MacBook Pro with integrated Intel graphics.

In addition, the new MacBook Pro with Apple's M1 chip offers up to 11 times faster machine learning performance, useful for everything from editing photos and videos to coding tasks.

The new Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch with Apple's M1 chip is very likely to be the longest-lasting MacBook ever. In fact, Apple rates the laptop at up to 17 hours of web surfing and a whopping 20 hours of video playback.

Unfortunately, despite updating the processor inside the laptop, Apple has not touched the MacBook Pro's design. With its unibody aluminum design, it is essentially the same 3-pound laptop as before. It comes in only two colors: space gray and silver.

The MacBook Pro features the same 13-inch Retina display as before, with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits. It also features True Tone, which automatically adjusts screen colors based on ambient brightness.

The bad news is that the new MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon has the same 720p resolution as before. The good news is that the ISP built into Apple's M1 chip enables better video quality, so you can see images with less grain and more detail in low-light conditions.

The MacBook Pro has three studio-quality microphones for video calls.

The new MacBook Pro offers two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports for charging, DisplayPort output, and Thunderbolt 3 output. These ports also support the older USB 3.1 standard. A headphone jack is also provided.

While we look forward to seeing how well the new MacBook Pro with Apple's M1 chip will perform, the new MacBook Air with Apple Silicon also looks powerful enough and costs $300 less The MacBook Pro has a longer battery life and its active cooling system should provide more sustained performance.

The biggest unknown is how well the new MacBook Pro will handle apps not written for Apple Silicon. Apple says its Rosetta 2 emulator will help some Intel apps run even faster, but we will have to wait and see.
