Cord-cutting fans rejoice: As part of its Prime Day early bird discount, Amazon is offering the Fire TV Recast for $100 off the regular price of $229.
As a digital video recorder, the Amazon Fire TV Recast gives you the luxury of being able to record live TV broadcasts in HD, pause, play, and fast-forward. It's the ideal solution if you're out during a soccer game or in the middle of a tense drama and want to grab a sandwich.
And Fire TV Recast does this in a fairly compact and unadorned box that can be easily integrated into your entertainment setup. Especially if you already have an Amazon Fire TV stick; the Fire TV Recast has 500GB of storage space and two TV tuners, which should be enough to get you started in the world of cord cutting and TV recording.
The Fire TV Recast is priced at $229, and while it opens up new ways to consume broadcast media, it is definitely not the cheapest device. However, if you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you can get the DVR for $129.99. Considering that a Prime subscription also gives you access to Prime Video, Amazon's own TV and movie streaming service, you have a pretty nice TV and media foundation for your setup.
