Nvidia has just announced the GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070, and rumors are circulating that they may be working on the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

While the RTX 3090 is the most powerful of Nvidia's next generation graphics cards, the RTX 3070 is definitely the quiet star of the new GeForce lineup. It outperforms the $999 GeForce RTX 2080 Ti at a price of $499 and is a serious PC gaming bargain. But the Ti version of the RTX 2070 could go a step further.

According to a listing by Lenovo, discovered by Videocardz, the RTX 2070 comes with 8GB of GDDR6, while the GeForce RTX 2070 Ti is expected to have 16GB of GDDR6 video memory.

No other specs for the rumored graphics card have been revealed. However, with twice the VRAM, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti will certainly perform better than its vanilla sibling. Clock speeds and memory speeds will also be increased, which should improve overall performance.

Nvidia is targeting the GeForce RTX 3070 as a graphics card for powerful 1440p to 4K gaming at smooth frame rates. As such, it is expected that the Ti version will slightly exceed that and may target 4K rather than 1440p.

Even if the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti remains a 1440p-centric GPU, it could potentially deliver faster frame rates at that resolution, making it a good card for those using high refresh rate monitors. That is if this card is indeed in development.

With the GeForce RTX 2000 series graphics cards, Nvidia has Ti versions of the RTX 2070 and RTX 2090. Therefore, it would not be beyond the realm of the imagination to do the same with the RTX 3000 series.

As 2020 ends and 2021 begins, we can expect to see more RTX 3000 series graphics cards in the form of the GeForce RTX 3060. Also, with the imminent launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, the next few months are going to be very interesting for gaming.
