It's safe to say that the design of Sony's PS5 is controversial. Some like it, while others are put off by its odd shape and shirt-collar-popping edges.
However, Sony has stated that the PS5 will have a custom edition, offering an alternative to the current two-tone design. All it took was for Giuseppe Spinelli to work with LetsGoDigital to create a concept rendering of a black PS5.
Spinelli's design, dubbed the "PS5 Black Edition," is essentially a reimagining of the PS5 in a black color scheme, with no hint of a two-tone finish. The only difference is the blue lighting around the PS5's air vents, which, like the PS4's light strip, turns orange when the PS5 is in energy-saving mode.
The black finish also makes the vertical edges of the PS5 look less ostentatious, as they undoubtedly do on vanilla consoles, although they seem to serve no purpose other than to trap the dust that inevitably collects around TVs and entertainment devices.
The all-black color scheme also means that the cooling ports stand out more when illuminated. I don't know if this is necessarily something to rave about, but it may appeal to those who like such features on a sports car like the Lamborghini.
Given that Sony has released white and gray versions of its PlayStation consoles in the past, as well as custom-designed consoles as part of major game launches, it is not hard to imagine this Black Editon concept becoming a reality in some form It is not difficult to imagine the Black Editon concept becoming a reality in some form. Also, for those who prefer to hide their gaming consoles inside their entertainment units or behind their TVs, the black color scheme may help make the PS5 inconspicuous in a positive way.
Overall, Sony has done something a little different with the PS5 in the design of its game console. But the most interesting things will happen under the chassis.
The PS5 will have 10.28 teraflops of power, support ray tracing and 3D audio, and a super-fast SSD.
