Early game footage of "Assasin's Creed Valhalla" has leaked, revealing what the game will look like running on the Xbox Series X and PS5.
A half-hour of in-game footage of Ubisoft's upcoming "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" was posted on Reddit, revealing what the game looks like and how it plays. Ubisoft has moved to remove the videos, but as of this writing, three videos posted by Reddit user Deathlycz are still available.
The videos show what appears to be footage of Assassin's Creed Valhalla running on Xbox Series X or PS5; given that the game was announced at the May 7 Xbox gaming event, it is assumed that it may run on Xbox Series X hardware. is speculated to be a possibility. However, since "Valhalla" will be available on the current PS4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as PC and Google Stadia, it is possible that the footage is for these platforms rather than the new consoles.
The player character Eivor, who can be male or female, can be seen riding his horse through villages, castles, and the current English countryside. It also gives a good view of the battles, from landing on the coast and sieges to boss battles.
In some ways, the non-combat parts are a bit reminiscent of "The Witcher 3," especially the scene in which the player skulks through a somewhat muddy Viking-era village on horseback. The combat parts, on the other hand, resemble "Assassin's Creed Odyssey," with sword- and axe-wielding action backed by RPG-like stats and hit point damage figures popping up every time you slash or punch an enemy. In effect, the game is like an evolution of the "Assassin's Creed" formula, which itself has gradually changed and deepened over the course of the series.
The difficult question is to what extent the graphics in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" have evolved from its predecessor.
However, we did not see ray tracing in action or any particularly impressive graphical features. It's not that the game didn't look appealing; it just didn't feel like a "next generation game."
However, the video could show how much more next-generation consoles can handle at once, including large-scale battles with multiple non-player characters. The seamless transition between actions also hints at the advantages of the PS5 and Xbox Series X's use of SSD storage rather than rotating disk drives.
We expect Assassin's Creed Valhalla to be properly introduced at Ubisoft Forward, an event this month on July 12 that will showcase the publisher's games. We also expect to hear more about the game at the Xbox 20/20 event scheduled for July 23, along with game footage of Halo Infinite.
