Stunning PS5 video reveals bold design for Sony console

The PS5 may finally be revealed to the world tomorrow, but there are no guarantees. Instead we get to see this amazing design in case Sony decides to hide the new console a bit more.

LetsGoDigital once again commissioned Concept Creator (real name Jermaine Smit) to design a PS5 concept ahead of the event. The design is dramatic, but not so wild that Sony would never present it. Perhaps Smit is surprisingly on target with these renderings.

Smit's design seems to be inspired by the original PS3, with its distinctive curved top. We can see both the traditional PlayStation all-black color scheme and the two-tone black and white design Sony is aiming for this time around, based on the DualSense controller it showed off at least a few months ago.

On the front is an LED-lit power button, with a disk drive slot to its right and several USB ports below it. The white surface surrounding the right side of the console appears to have a leather-like pattern, but this is most likely intended to be the vegan leather found on other high-end devices, not real organic leather.

The top is decorated with small cutouts that represent the symbols of the four face buttons on the PlayStation series controllers. Some of these appear to be illuminated, and a blue LED strip running down the middle of the two halves provides the most dramatic part of the design.

Tomorrow (June 11) is the date of Sony's highly anticipated "Future of Gaming" event. While interesting announcements related to audio and headphones are expected, the focus should be on gaming itself. And it is quite possible that Sony will once again avoid actually showing the gaming consoles in order to keep the excitement of fans at a maximum for the upcoming event.

We know that the PS5 will launch with a 10.3 teraflop GPU capable of 3D audio, custom SSDs, and ray tracing, with DualSense providing detailed haptic feedback to the player's hands; the Xbox Series X will have a more powerful GPU and expandable SSD storage with its own cartridges, but will be released at about the same time.
