The Xbox Series X will bring "the biggest change to the game since 3D graphics

Xbox Series X will bring the biggest change in gaming since the transition from 2D to 3D, according to the head of Xbox.

Phil Spencer, who is in charge of Xbox at Microsoft, answered questions about ray tracing and other technologies that will make the new generation more advanced than the old.

As shown in the embedded tweet above, Spencer said, "Raytracing on consoles will be great." He also mentioned interest in dynamic latency input. This is a new system for Xbox's Series X that attempts to eliminate input latency from the controller by sending data just before it is needed.

The last part of Spencer's tweet makes big promises about the performance of the Xbox Series X, and indirectly the PS5, claiming that this will be the biggest change for gaming since the jump from 2D to 3D graphics. This is due to CPU upgrades, increased memory bandwidth, faster SSDs, and the aforementioned DLI system. [There are other reasons to expect more from the Xbox Series X, including 8K video output, up to 120 frames per second, backwards compatibility, and 12 teraflops of computing power; the PS5, while lacking in teraflops, offers 3D audio, its own faster SSD storage, built-in DualSense controller for haptic feedback, and more.

Both the Microsoft and Sony consoles are expected to arrive around November of this year, barring any unfortunate delays due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
