For months, the 2020 iPad Pro was set to launch in March. However, new reports are several reasons to think we may be waiting longer for Apple's high-end tablet.
As you might imagine, the delay stems from concerns about the coronavirus, which has knocked out everything from MWC to SXSW and even E3; Cult of Mac reports that Apple's unannounced (but rumored) March 2020 event has been canceled.
The event, which was also scheduled to unveil the iPhone 9, was canceled because Apple executives were "concerned" about the large turnout of some 1,000 media representatives from around the world. The event was to have been held at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. This was a bit of a surprise, since media events usually draw hundreds of reporters elbow to elbow into the auditorium.
This led our sister site TechRadar to speculate that the iPad Pro and iPhone 9 events could be held later this year, in Q4 (October to December). Their logic? Apple wants to keep with tradition and not get in the way of the highly anticipated iPhone 12 launch event.
But I wouldn't bet on that being Apple's sure and guaranteed path. While the coronavirus concern will have a major impact on the company's calendar, I don't expect a traditional WWDC this year.
Let's take a look back at one of Apple's biggest hits in recent years, the AirPods Pro.
If the iPad Pro update for 2020 is a triple-lens camera, 5G connectivity, and a new Apple processor similar to the iPhone 11 Pro, there is not much public education required for the new iPad since we are already familiar with these concepts.
