Nvidia says it has PS5 and Xbox Series X killer

The PS5 and Xbox Series X. These are the big names in console gaming that we expect to read a lot about this year; the third is Nintendo, which reportedly has no plans to release a Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch Pro to compete with the other two. [However, GPU maker Nvidia is breaking into the fray, with one executive claiming on a recent conference call that its gaming laptops will be "the most popular console in the world," despite competition from the powerhouses Sony and Microsoft.

During a conference call during which Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was discussing the company's Q4 earnings, Huang praised his company's GeForce RTX graphics solution and the computer's power over gaming, according to Seeking Alpha Huang praised his company's GeForce RTX graphics solutions and the power of computers in gaming.

Huang stated: "Being able to put RTX on a thin and light notebook is a real breakthrough. I believe this will be the biggest gaming machine in the world. I believe this will be the biggest gaming machine in the world.

Clearly, Juan is a CEO and a private believer in the company's success. Also, it is debatable whether a laptop qualifies as a console.

However, if Huang can get enough buyers for laptops and notebooks with Nvidia's GeForce RTX graphics technology to see the potential of gaming on computers rather than consoles, he may be on to a winner. In effect, it is a gaming console that can be carried in a bag.

As Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress claims that retailers are stocking record numbers of laptops with RTX graphics devices, each laptop buyer has the potential to become a PC gamer, and Sony and Microsoft's market market share of Sony and Microsoft.

Nvidia's RTX graphics cards are touted as "the world's most advanced GPU architecture for gamers and creators. They utilize technologies such as ray tracing, a new method of creating stunningly realistic lighting effects, to create immersive and realistic environments. Combined with the laptop's modular memory and easy-to-use devices for both work and play, there is no doubt that it has the potential to turn millions of laptop users into PC gamers.

It is unlikely that the PS5 or Xbox Series X will be so easily threatened by Nvidia or other laptop gaming proponents. However, a new generation of gaming comes with new challenges and may even change the balance of power. We will know more for sure as the year progresses and we learn how the PC market reacts to the new game consoles.
