Securing a PS5 is no easy task. Low inventory, lightning-fast bots, and high demand make purchasing Sony's new console next to impossible. While more PS5 restocks are promised this week, the fact remains that buying a PS5 is still a frustrating experience.
However, there are a few things you can do right now to take advantage of the next PS5 restocking. By creating a login account, following the right influencers on Twitter, and keeping up with the latest news, you can increase your chances of getting a PS5.
While we can't guarantee that you'll be able to get your hands on a PS5 the next time it's restocked, following these tips will at least give you a head start on when it will be restocked and give you an idea of what to do while waiting in the virtual queue.
Before the pandemic, getting a new console on launch day meant standing in a physical line with other gamers in hopes of being one of the first shoppers in the store. These days, everyone shops online and has a common enemy: bots. Scammers are using bots to buy up as much PS5 inventory as they can. They then sell the new console at extraordinary prices.
The best way to squash bots is to simply not buy from scalpers. To do so, stay vigilant 24/7; Twitter accounts like Wario64 and @PS5StockAlerts can provide updates on inventory. You may also want to follow the Twitter accounts of your favorite stores like Best Buy, Newegg, and Walmart. You can keep these feeds on your radar 24/7 and sign up for email alerts from some of your favorite stores as well.
Normally, creating login accounts for various retailers is not recommended. However, having an account with your address and credit card information can make the difference between getting a gaming console or being left behind. If you have an account ready, you can check out a new console as soon as you are lucky enough to get one.
So open accounts at Walmart, GameStop, Sony Direct, and Amazon.
We've been tracking restocking since the launch of the PS5, and it's safe to say that restocking events can happen at any time of the day. Some retailers announce them a few hours in advance, others 10 minutes in advance. When you find a restock, bookmark the page and load its website a few minutes before the restock.
Sony Direct Stores require a virtual queue before you can purchase a PS5. In many cases, the "wait time" can be several hours. However, there is no need to worry, as the wait time will shorten quickly. In the case of the Sony Direct Store, we found that the estimated wait time was on the short side, despite the fact that the wait time was indicated to be over an hour.
It is worth knowing, however, that just because you stand in line to buy a console does not mean you will actually get it. We've created countless virtual lines at Sony Direct and have yet to secure a gaming console.
Below is a list of PS5 landing pages for all major retailers. You should always check these pages whenever there is a restocking event. (Unless, of course, the retailer in question provides a link to a new landing page.) Know which pages to check and check them often.
