Google Pixel6 connectivity issues are being "actively investigated"

Google is reportedly investigating network connectivity issues that Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users are encountering. We too are experiencing this issue.

Some people have suggested it was due to the latest software update for the new Pixel phones. However, 9to5Google reported that Google is "actively investigating" the reported issue and will provide more information as soon as it becomes more readily available, which it is not.

This is an interesting issue because it appears to be affecting Pixel 6 users in Europe rather than the U.S. or elsewhere; Reddit, Google's forums, and Google's issue tracker have reported that the Pixel 6's cellular signal is unexpectedly low and sometimes the connection to 5G/mobile data is disconnected.

I have experienced this on my Pixel 6 Pro, and at least the connection to 5G is somewhat unstable and occasionally disconnected. It is difficult to determine if this is due to the phone alone or my 5G connection provided by EE.

In London, indoor 5G coverage is not perfect, and when I swapped my SIM card for an iPhone 13 Pro, the signal bar is also relatively low. However, whereas Apple's latest flagship model had fewer network dropouts, the Pixel 6 Pro seemed to lose connection even in areas of my apartment with relatively stable signal.

Conversely, automotive editor Tom Pritchard noticed that his 4G connection was a bit spotty, but said that might be due to network provider O2. UK editor Mark McLaren also said that he has not encountered any problems with Three's network, and calls on 4G/5G seem to be fairly clear.

The bottom line is that it is difficult to narrow down the cause of an unstable network connection due to variations in network providers, network quality, and simple location. Anecdotally, however, we feel that the iPhone 13 Pro provides a more stable mobile Internet connection than the Pixel 6 Pro. And Google's aggressive investigation into this issue suggests that something may be afoot.

Apparently, installing the latest Google Carrier services beta version can solve the network connection problem. Users who have not experienced this problem have indicated that they are already members of the Carrier services beta.

Overall, my experience with the Google Pixel 6 Pro has been very positive. However, until Google provides more details on the reported issues, you may want to hold off on purchasing a Pixel.
