"Survivor 41" will bring back the reality show that millions of viewers have come to love.
CBS has announced the 18 cast members for "Survivor" Season 41 and released a teaser trailer featuring host and executive producer Jeff Probst. And longtime "Survivor" star Jeff Probst promises to bring a new twist and change to the game.
Perhaps for the first time since Season 1, "Survivor" will not have a title theme by location, tribal division, or any other aspect of the game. Instead, this season will simply be called "Survivor 41."
Another major change is that the playing time will be reduced from 39 to 26 days. As Probst explains in the video, "Survivor 41 marks the beginning of a new era, starting with a more dangerous 26-day game." That means a very fast pace. Players have to make bigger decisions. So there will be new advantages and controversial developments."
Probst also noted that fans usually dislike new twists at first, "going back to season 3 when we did the first tribe swap." This season will bring more and different benefits, which admittedly may be controversial.
The changed game is intended to keep players on their toes and not rely on knowledge of past seasons.
As Probst told Parade, "Tribes are not given daily staples and few reward challenges. This had an immediate and tremendous impact because their mental and physical energy was immediately challenged.
"Also, votes are often at risk, and you cannot count on how many votes your alliance has at any given tribal meeting. Gaining an advantage often comes with great risk. To gain an advantage, you have to work through the risky stuff. This is a new version of Survivor. There is no comparison to past seasons."
The preview video also features a "game within a game" for fans watching at home. Each week, viewers will be able to find and decipher puzzles hidden within the episodes. Ultimately, the answers will be directly related to what is happening to the players in the show.
CBS has set the release date for "Survivor 41" for Wednesday, September 22 at 8 p.m. ET.
New episodes will be available every Wednesday and will likely be available on Paramount Plus the following day.
The cast of Survivor Season 41 consists of 18 players ranging in age from 20 to 52, including a former NFL player, a neurosurgeon, a flight attendant, a rancher, a grocery store clerk pastor and several college students.
They are divided into three tribes of six players each.
