iPhone13Pro is reportedly undergoing 3 killer camera upgrades

Everyone, including us, is preparing for the upcoming iPhone 13. As we get closer to September, when Apple is rumored to unveil the new iPhone, we are hearing more and more information.

Courtesy of a new report from Bloomberg, we believe the iPhone 13 Pro will feature portrait video recording, the ability to save video in the ProRes file format, and a new filter system to correct color reproduction. These enhancements will likely improve the iPhone 13 Pro's powerful media creation capabilities.

We've heard about portrait video on the iPhone 13 before, but Bloomberg's report is just another source to make that claim. As the name suggests, portrait video is similar to portrait photography, where an artificial blur (bokeh) effect is applied to the video to make it more artistic. Previous rumors have claimed that Apple will use a LiDAR scanner on the Pro model to achieve the magic.

Bloomberg's report also claims that the iPhone 13 Pro will be able to store videos in Apple's ProRes file format. This is a format that Apple introduced over a decade ago to allow creative professionals to create higher quality output; ProRes works with Apple's video editing software, Final Cut Pro, and supports resolutions up to 8K. In short, the iPhone 13 Pro can produce very high-quality video that can be professionally transformed into even better content. However, it is not known if the iPhone 13 Pro will record in 8K like the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Finally, Bloomberg claims that Apple will introduce a new filter system on the iPhone 13. These new filters will improve color reproduction in photos by using AI, which Bloomberg states "uses artificial intelligence to make precise changes to objects and people. This would help warm or cool colors while keeping highlights, shadows, and whites neutral in a photo.

Besides the camera enhancements, the iPhone 13 is expected to be the first iPhone to feature a high refresh rate display. However, rumors suggest that the 120 Hz ProMotion screen will be exclusive to the Pro model, while the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 will remain at 60 Hz. Also, the iPhone 13 is expected to have a smaller display notch.

The iPhone 13 is expected to be announced in September, with a full release a few weeks later. For the latest rumors and leaks, see our iPhone 13 hub.
