How to watch Karate at the Tokyo Olympics: Schedule, channels, etc.

Karate is one of the five new sports for the Tokyo Olympics, and since it has not been selected as an event for the 2024 Paris Olympics, this may be the first and last time we see karate competition at the Olympics.

Karate consists of kata and kumite. In kata, competitors choose from 102 kata recognized by the World Karate Federation. In kata, competitors compete in strength, speed, rhythm, balance, and power of blows from among the 102 kata recognized by the World Karate Federation. In kumite, two competitors face each other on the mat and attack each other. Good form, power, and control earn points from the judges.

The US team sent three karate athletes to Tokyo. Ariel Torres won gold in men's kata at the 2019 Pan American Championships and is ranked 10th by the World Karate Federation. In women's kata, Sakura Kunitomo is ranked 6th and won a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Championships. And in men's kumite, Brian Ahr is a Pan American bronze medalist and is No. 9 in the rankings.

Here's everything you need to know about watching karate at the Tokyo Olympics, including the competition schedule.

The Olympics are a global event and can be seen in almost every country on earth. However, if you are not in your home country and cannot watch the Tokyo Olympics karate competitions through your usual services, or if you prefer to watch them in your native language, you are not out of luck.

A virtual private network, or VPN, allows you to access the same streaming services you're already paying for by pretending you're surfing the web from your hometown (or anywhere else the power won't go out) VPNs are perfectly legal, inexpensive and easy to use.

Not sure which VPN is right for you? After testing a variety of services, the best VPN overall is ExpressVPN. It offers great speed and excellent customer service. However, there are other VPN options out there.

The VPN is incredibly easy to use.

1. Install the VPN of your choice. As we have mentioned, ExpressVPN is our favorite.

2. select the location you want to connect to with the VPN app. For example, if you are in the US and want to see UK services, select UK from the list.

3. Sit back and enjoy the action. Go to your preferred website or streaming service and tune in.

To watch live Tokyo Olympics karate, U.S. viewers will need to go to NBCOlympics.com. Some matches will be broadcast live or rebroadcast on USA.

Broadcasts on Peacock may include live streaming of track events. Primetime highlights of the Tokyo Olympics track events may also be shown on NBC.

USA is part of the $35/month Sling TV Blue package, as are NBC, NBCSN, and CNBC. The Olympic Channel is also available as an $11/month add-on.

Sling is one of the best streaming services alongside our other recommendation for Olympic viewing: Fubo TV has over 100 channels (more than Sling), including all the networks mentioned above.

To watch all the karate live in the UK, Brits will want to subscribe to Discovery Plus, which offers complete coverage of Tokyo 2020. The full schedule is as follows.

Discovery is currently offering a 3-day free trial of this service, after which a full subscription is available for £6.99 per month or £29.99 per year. Additionally, the service is streamable on a number of devices, including Chromecast, Apple TV, Android TV, and apps for iOS and Android.

BBC iPlayer used to be the primary source for all Olympic coverage for people in the UK, but things have changed.

The BBC no longer has a monopoly on Olympic coverage in the UK, as the IOC has sold its major European broadcasting rights to the Discovery Network. As a result, the BBC's coverage, while still good, is limited to no more than two live broadcasts at a time.

Americans abroad can use any service of their choice by logging in via a VPN such as ExpressVPN.

Sportsnet, CBC, and TSN share Olympic coverage, so Canadians can watch live and tape-delayed coverage of karate competitions on these channels.

Again, Americans can use services such as Peacock, Sling, and Fubo by logging in via a VPN such as ExpressVPN.

Downunder, Aussies can watch Tokyo Olympics Karate and FREE on the 7Plus network streaming service.
