Dead Space is Back During the EA Play 2021 showcase, Dead Space Remake was announced, marking the latest installment in the beloved sci-fi horror series' triumphant return after more than eight years in cryo-sleep.
Fans have been clamoring for a new installment in the series for years, but the franchise has been dormant since 2013's Dead Space 3. Until now. The original game has been remade for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Engineer Isaac Clarke will once again battle a horde of terrifying necromorphs.
The 2008 ground-up remake of the film takes players back to the USG Ishimura's spaceship, which has been overrun by nightmarish creatures. dead Space Remake gives players a sense of dread thanks to excellent visuals and sound design .
The bulk of the game remains undisclosed for now. However, EA has given us a few small details that have longtime fans even more excited about the prospect of returning to the Dead Space universe. Here's what we know about the Dead Space remake.
Unfortunately, there is no release date information for the Dead Space remake at this time. The game was released in June 2021, but publisher EA has not given fans even a vague release date at this time.
Online speculation suggests that Dead Space Remake could be released in 2023. However, this is pure speculation; 2023 is 10 years after the last game in the series, which might make sense, but it is still impossible to say for sure when the remake will be released.
Dead Space Remake will only be available for PS5 and Xbox Series X (and PC), with no known versions for PS4 or Xbox One.
Dead Space Remake was announced at EA Play 2021 along with a teaser trailer; this short trailer doesn't give fans much to go on. However, the iconic "cut off your limbs" message is showcased, and we get a brief peek at Isaac Clarke's suit powering up.
Since this is a remake of the original "Dead Space," the core gameplay is unlikely to be significantly altered. As such, it will most likely be a third-party action/horror game, where one must dismember and defeat enemies with a variety of mining tools, including the much-loved plasma cutter.
The series is a survival horror franchise with an emphasis on item management. For example, if you come across a health pack, you must first drop precious ammunition in order to pick it up. Making these tough decisions is the key to survival.
The franchise is beloved for its incredibly creepy atmosphere, as you slowly creep down dark corridors, bracing yourself for the horrors that could pop out of the shadows at any moment. The power of the next generation of machines should take this atmosphere to a whole new level.
Dead Space tells the story of Isaac Clark, who boards USG Ishimura in search of his missing girlfriend and is thrown into a nightmarish situation.
He soon discovers that the ship has been overrun by a terrifying creature and must survive long enough to discover what has happened to his partner and get off the ship still sane.
However, Dead Space Remake could expand beyond the storyline of the original game. Creative director Romain Compos-Oriola told IGN: For us, the foundation is the story of Dead Space 1. So, by default, it is canonical. But there are areas where we want to improve on that story. [It's not that what didn't work in the original story has been improved, but the subsequent development of the story has been improved. "
"Dead Space Remake" will only be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X, allowing players to take full advantage of these new, powered-up consoles without having to deal with the PS4/Xbox versions.
Roman Campos-Oriola recently spoke to IGN about the improvements players can expect in the remake. He said, "We're reworking all of these assets: visuals, sound, gameplay, everything. We're not retexturing or adding polygons to the models. We're rebuilding every element and filming every animation."
The ultra-fast SSDs that both consoles boast are also used to create a seamless gameplay experience.
"There is no loading. There is no loading, no interruption in the experience, no camera interruptions. It plays seamlessly from the start screen to the end credits," Campos-Orilla said.3D audio is another important next-generation feature that "Dead Space Remake" will utilize. In addition, accessibility features will be greatly enhanced this time around, allowing more players to enjoy the game.
In addition, this title is being developed in collaboration with "Dead Space" fans. Senior producer Phillipe Ducharme told IGN, "From the conception stage, we kept in touch with members of the community and set up a community council to consult with them on what we were making."
If we decide to make a change, we explain it and say, 'No, what are you doing? What are you thinking? You're actually breaking the game, why are you changing this?'" added Ducharme.
This approach of incorporating fan input could prove valuable. After all, developers generally only listen to fans after the game has been released, which is too late to make major changes. However, by consulting "Dead Space" fans from the beginning, the game may be more in line with what players want from a "Dead Space" title.
They may also be pleased that the controversial microtransaction system of "Dead Space 3" will not return in "Dead Space Remake."
The developer of the original "Dead Space" series, Visceral Games, unfortunately closed its doors in 2017 and will not return for this remake.
However, EA Motive, best known for its work on the single-player campaign for Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the online dogfighting game Star Wars: Squadrons, will take over the reins.
Interestingly, EA Motive had worked with Visceral on the now-canceled "Star Wars" game before Visceral's studio was shut down. Hopefully, Visceral's staff passed along advice on how to make a "Dead Space" game during that time. ......
The game's most senior director, Eric Baptizat, was also the game director for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Dead Space" may become an open-world RPG. Well, it's unlikely, but it's good to see a remake in the hands of someone who has experience leading large development projects.
Dead Space has been waiting a long time for a revival. Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village proved earlier this year that big-budget horror games are still very much worthwhile, and sales figures show that there is certainly an eager market for such games.
The warm reception of the 2019 "Resident Evil 2" remake no doubt helped convince EA that it was the right time to remake "Dead Space". While it is a bit disappointing that it is a remake rather than a completely new game, the original remains a masterpiece, and we can't wait to play it again on powerful next-generation hardware.
EA seems to be in a nostalgic mood right now; not only is "Dead Space" back, but the publisher finally caved to fan pressure and announced a new installment in the "Skate" series last summer. Perhaps a long-dormant franchise like "Burnout" will be the next to get a new title.
