Samsung seems unable to keep a lid on the situation, as one Korean case manufacturer accidentally leaked the Galaxy Z Flip 3 design ahead of the August 11 Galaxy Unpacked event. Regulatory filings also revealed that the refreshed foldable may support 25W fast charging.
As for the new phone's appearance, Korean e-commerce retailer Coupang (via SamMobile) has a list of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases showing off its full design. Of interest is the camera array on the back of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 case. This array, like that of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, is placed across the full width of the phone. Like that phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could also feature a 1.9-inch cover display, at least according to previous leaks.
The list of Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases shows off Samsung's unannounced phone from multiple angles.
Overall, it looks like the new phone has a very similar design to last year's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. (You may wonder why there is no Z Flip 2, but that's because Samsung has reportedly decided to skip it in favor of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 naming convention; both the Flip and Fold are expected to debut at Samsung's August 11 event.
When fully opened, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 looks exactly like the original phone's punch-hole camera and all. In addition, the edge bezels are raised to prevent dust from seeping in.
Korean retailer Coupang was not the only one to accidentally leak rendered images of the Z Flip 3, but others as well. The website 91mobiles posted images of another Z Flip 3 case design with a nifty strap attachment. It harkens back to the days of flip phones, which often had holes for straps.
Meanwhile, while the case maker posted images of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, a submission to China's 3C regulatory agency, discovered by Sammobile, indicates that the foldable provides 25W of charging. Previously, the Z Flip 3 was only suggested to charge at 15W, while other Samsung phones feature faster charging.
With support for 25W fast charging, the Galaxy Z Flip 3's battery should be easy to replenish. That's good because the original phone ran out of battery quickly, so we are eager to see if Samsung can improve battery life with this version. To that end, information from Safety Korea, 3C and DEKRA suggests that the Z Flip 3 will have the same 3,300 mAh battery capacity split between 2,370 mAh and 903 mAh cells.
It is still unclear whether Samsung will include a 25W charger with the Galaxy Z Flip 3. A previous report from SamMobile indicated that the phone comes with a 15W charger, and Z Flip 3 owners who want full-speed charging will need to purchase their own accessory to be purchased, the report claimed. Also, Samsung does not include a charger with the Galaxy S 21, so any charger would be welcome at this time.
Information currently circulating online suggests that the Z Flip 3 will have a lower starting price than last year's Z Flip, between $999 and $1099, although some reports put the price of the full-featured device at $1249. in addition to a 1.9-inch outer screen, Galaxy Z Flip should have the same 6.7-inch foldable display as its predecessor.
