The live stream of the Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Matteo Bellettini has begun. And thankfully, Djokovic's match is not as effortless as he has been in the past.
Live streams of Djokovic's first five Wimbledon 2021 matches showed smooth sailing to the top, but then Denis Shapovalov showed up to play, and while a 7-6(3), 7-5, 7-5 final line looks strong for Djokovic but it doesn't show how Shapovalov pushed the defending champion to the limit. Big serves and a well-rounded game kept Djokovic from taking control of the match on more than one occasion.
What's at stake? If seventh seed Matteo Bellettini fails to defeat Djokovic, the Serbian ace will win the 20th Grand Slam title of his career. This would tie Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal's individual title records. Djokovic, ranked No. 1 in the men's tennis world rankings, has only given up one set so far. What is that set? Well, it was the first set of the entire tournament, so he has played and won the following 15 sets.
Historically, Djokovic is 2-1 against Bellettini. And in their most recent meeting at Roland Garros in 2021, Bellettini took one of the four sets.
At Wimbledon in 2021, Djokovic only dropped one set. Since then, he has not dropped a single set. Only twice has he been taken to a tiebreaker, in the final set against Denis Kudla and in the first set against Shapovalov. Matteo Bellettini's road to the final was not so smooth.
Will Djokovic win this match too? Will Djokovic take this match too?
