An image purportedly depicting the iPhone 13 Pro Max has been circulating on Chinese social media site Weibo, suggesting that the upcoming Apple flagship model will feature a significantly larger camera module than last year's model.
As reported by MacRumors, the leaked image was shared by user UnclePan, who claims it depicts the iPhone 12 Pro Max with an iPhone 13 Pro Max case. Mounting the current 12 Pro Max in the supposed 13 Pro Max case gives an idea of how much larger the new iPhone's camera module will be.
There is conflicting information about what is shown in the images. Apple's rumored design change was previously based on the thickness of the camera bump (not the module). Nonetheless, it appears that the iPhone 13 Pro may feature a new camera layout.
While the image shared by UnclePan certainly looks convincing, some online have questioned its validity. For example, DuanRui explained on Twitter that the explanation given by UnclePan is incorrect. The image appears to show the iPhone 12 Pro in the iPhone 13 Pro case, not the Pro Max case. This claim does not necessarily negate the idea that the new iPhone will have a larger camera, but the fact that the information is different should remind consumers that it is all rumor.
Apart from this new camera module size rumor, information about the iPhone 13 is circulating on the Internet. The most widely discussed is that the notch on the iPhone will be reduced in size.
Along with the notch reduction, other rumors point out that the iPhone 13 Pro will offer a better ultra-wide camera with autofocus and the ability to shoot video in portrait mode and capture the night sky with a new astrophotography feature. Add in the model's rumored 120Hz ProMotion display, and Apple's flagship model, which will probably be released in September, should be quite formidable.
