"Ted Rathbone" Season 2 is back. The award-winning Apple TV Plus comedy will hit screens in a few weeks. A new trailer reveals some of the plot of "Ted Rathbos" Season 2. Well, not really, but he tries to make his point to the team. He even flips the tables.
"Ted Rathbos" Season 2 continues the journey of the main character (Jason Sudeikis). His "can-do" optimism initially annoys team owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Wadham), the players, and the fans. But Ted Lasso's joviality is so infectious that he begins to triumph and defeat his opponents.
Season two of Ted Russo follows the critically acclaimed first season, which brought many accolades for the show and its lead actor from the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, and Writers Guild. More recognition is expected at the upcoming nominated Emmy Awards. The series was a definite breakout hit for the fledgling Apple TV Plus service.
Here is what we know so far about Ted Russo Season 2.
Apple TV Plus will release Ted Lasso Season 2 on Friday, July 23.
The second season will consist of 12 episodes. It is possible that Apple will release multiple episodes, up to three, for the premiere; however many are released on July 23, the rest will be released every Friday.
Apple TV Plus first renewed Ted Lasso season 2 on August 19, 2020, in the middle of season 1. Ten episodes were originally ordered but were increased to 12 episodes; in October 2020, the streamer also announced production of Ted Lasso Season 3.
On the podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach + Donald, creator Bill Lawrence said that Ted Lasso is likely to be a "three-season show" and will wrap up the storyline by the end of season three
Ted Lasso has been in the news for several years.
In the Ted Lasso Season 2 full-length trailer, the coach plays "Under Pressure" (with the song playing in the background); AFC Richmond is relegated, star player Danny Rojas is struggling, and the team continues to draw. Against the latter, Ted jokes, as he does about everything. But he is clearly somewhat concerned, as he has decided to bring in the mean-spirited Ted Lasso to try to turn things around.
The first teaser trailer for Ted Lasso Season 2 was released at Apple's April 20 event. The video begins with a series of familiar flashes from the show, including Ted's famously delicious shortbread cookies and the "BELIEVE" sign in the locker room. The text proclaims, "Kindness is making a comeback." From there, the teaser heralds Ted's second year as coach of AFC Richmond. Later, Ted makes a hilarious reference to the ill-fated New York Jets.
The cast of Ted Russo Season 2 will be led by Jason Sudeikis as AFC Richmond's current coach, Ted Russo. He was formerly the American football coach for the Wichita State University Shockers.
He joins:
Season 2 of Ted Russo will feature new faces, including Sarah Niles as Sharon, a sports psychologist working at AFC Richmond. In the teaser, she turns down Ted's cookies because she doesn't eat sugar. Terrifying.
Relegated from the Premier League, AFC Richmond seems to have been out of luck for most of Season 2 of Ted Rathbone.
Cast member Hannah Waddingham told Collider, "Jason described season 2 as 'The Empire Strikes Back,' and I'd have to agree with him."
The show has been a success, but it's not the only one. That everyone is truly on the same team, at least behind the scenes, is evidenced by the pure joy that greets Ted when he meets Rebecca, Leslie, and Keely. When they all work together, they make a formidable group.
Speaking of Keely, she and Roy seem to be getting along well, as their passionate kiss in the trailer indicates.
And if Season 2 is like "The Empire Strikes Back," then "Ted Rathbone" Season 3 will be "Return of the Jedi," or the final chapter in the Star Wars saga.
As Sudeikis told EW.com, "The story that will be told, the arc of the three seasons, is one that I can see, know, and understand. I'm happy to pay for those three seasons. Who knows what will happen after that? I don't know."
Co-creator Lawrence added, "The first storyline in Jason's head is a three-season arc, but I'm hoping (that) there will still be a Ted Russo storyline after three seasons. Hey, in my head, Ted Lasso should move home and coach a pro team a block away from Jason's house in reality."
