The Medium, which was considered a timed exclusive for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, will arrive on the PS5 on September 3.
This date appears to be the cutoff for console exclusivity for Bloober Team's horror game. And those lucky enough to secure a restock of PS5 will be able to enjoy the advanced haptic feedback of the DualSense controller when playing "The Medium" on Sony's console.
Critical reviews of "The Medium" have been mixed, and the loss of what was essentially the first major exclusive title for the Xbox Series X and Series S may not feel like much of a blow to those interested in the PS5 versus Xbox Series X battle.
Also, with "Starfield," "Fable 4," and "Halo Infinite" on the horizon, Xbox fans will have more exclusive games to turn to PS5 players. Nevertheless, the Sony camp also has "God of War 2: Ragnarok," "Horizon Forbidden West," "Returnal," and "Ratchet & Clank": as well as "Returnal," "Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart," Demon's Souls" are also available to play now.
The Bloober Team added that "The Medium" will take advantage of the PS5 hardware, but did not elaborate on what exactly that will look like. We speculate that the game will be rendered in native 4K resolution and will load very quickly thanks to the PS5's fast SSD. since "The Medium" is a horror game, it will take advantage of the PS5's 3D audio capabilities provided by Sony's Tempest 3D AudioTech. Bloober Team did not mention this.
However, to celebrate this cross-game console launch, the Bloober Team will also be releasing The Medium: Two Worlds Special Launch Edition in select regions. This special edition will come with an exclusive steelbook, the game's soundtrack, and a 32-page hardcover art book for all three consoles.
So if you haven't played the game yet and like metal game cases and artbooks, you should probably wait for this edition. The price for the special edition has not yet been revealed, but the regular PS5 version of The Medium is priced at $49.
Currently, "The Medium" is available through Xbox Game Pass, which starts at $9.99/month and gives Xbox players access to a huge selection of old and new Xbox games. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have access to Xbox games, a wide range of PC games, and xCloud game streaming, all for $14.99 per month.
