It's not the $1 million prize that some states are giving away to encourage residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine. But Verizon is offering discounts on everything from Apple's AirPods Pro to Sony's WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling headphones to customers who get at least one COVID-19 vaccination.
Specifically, Verizon is flicking 10% price cuts on a variety of accessories to shoppers who have received vaccinations, as well as first responders, nurses, teachers, and military personnel. This is part of an overall push by the company and state and local governments to encourage people to get vaccinated, not only to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but also to help build collective immunity against the disease.
Verizon's campaign kicks off today (June 15) when you shop at the Verizon Sell website and complete a survey. Once you submit your answers, you will receive a discount code via SMS within 24 hours. The code can be redeemed at either Verizon's online store or in brick-and-mortar stores, and the code can be added to your checkout before August 15.
Below is the full list of discounted accessories included in Verizon's vaccination campaign, along with their regular prices.
The savings go beyond the 10% discount for vaccinated shoppers. Verizon already offers sale prices on many of these accessories, and you can stack those two discounts with each other to further lower the price.
In the case of the Apple AirPods Pro, for example, Verizon is offering the wireless earbuds for $199 through June 20. That's $50 off the regular price, and with an additional 10% off if you get the Covid-19 vaccination, you can get Apple's top-rated earbuds for $179.
Similarly, Sony's WH-1000XM4 headphones are on sale for $50 off through June 20. With the 10% vaccination discount, you can save an additional $30, bringing the total to $269.
Other vaccine promotions are taking place around the country, including free tickets to Krispy Kreme doughnuts and sporting events. Anheuser-Busch will offer free beer to anyone 21 and older if the U.S. meets its goal of 70% of adults vaccinated by July 4
