Battlefield 2042 Gameplay revealed — tanks, wingsuits, and really big tornadoes

As part of the E3 2021 Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, the near-future setting and massive multiplayer battles of Battlefield 2042 were exploded into view.

The trailer shows classic Battlefield combat spread across a sprawling map that blends vast open spaces with cramped indoor combat, with the chance to take to the skies in aerial combat or jump into next-generation tanks to provide armored forces. on October 22, PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and on PS4 and Xbox One this fall, the gameplay trailer for "Battlefield 2042" confirms what has been leaked so far about "Battlefield 2042."

As expected, the game is more advanced than previous "Battlefield" games, with multiplayer battles now accommodating up to 128 players and taking place in a variety of environments. From futuristic cities to futuristic agricultural areas, deserts and mountainous regions, and even a rocket launch site, it appears that the game will feature.

Much of the action in "Battlefield 2042" involves jumping into futuristic tanks, helicopters, and jets while running and shooting down enemies, but the addition of changing weather effects like massive tornadoes and sandstorms will mix up the action on the map.

But to trudge through these environments and dramatic weather events, the "specialist" (I think that's the new name for the class) has a grappling hook and a wingsuit, the latter of which would be especially useful if you are in a helicopter about to crash in a tornado.

Weapon customization seems to play a big role in this game. From the new footage, this could be done on the fly, with the possibility of adding specific scopes or silencers to weapons as the situation changes. It was difficult to tell exactly how this would play out, though, because of the fast pace of the trailer.

What is rather disturbing is the amount of verticality in Battlefield 2042. This would be an evolution of "Battlefield 4," a departure from previous World War I- and World War II-based games, which is not surprising given the suffix "4" in "2042.

Expect to climb cranes, climb into towering skyscrapers, and jump out of aircraft and onto buildings to keep the combat more dynamic.

An open beta is planned for the game by fall, so we may find out how the action in the trailer translates to the game when we play it. Stay tuned to Tom's Guide for further updates. Also, stay tuned to the Future Games Show Summer Showcase later today for more E3 2021 news and trailers.
