See the OnePlus Nord CE 5G just before OnePlus officially unveils it.
This render, published exclusively by TechRadar, is part of a detailed teaser of OnePlus' new phone. While the article focuses a lot on OnePlus' design philosophy when it comes to making the phone's body and choosing its features, we also get to know some of its most important specifications.
The color of this model was named Blue Void. It is similar to the Blue Marble of the original Nord, but different enough to give the CE a unique look. It also has a matte, fingerprint-resistant finish that gives it a luxurious look that the original Nord did not have.
The physical design is only modestly changed. The phone's flash module has been moved from the upper right corner of the rectangular camera module to the lower right corner, and the rear camera has been reduced from four on the Nord to three. Our guess is that the main lens and ultra-wide lens will remain, but either the macro or depth sensor may disappear.
In case you didn't already know, the CE in the phone's name stands for "Core Edition." As Oliver Chang explained to TechRadar, this means a reduction of the original Nord while focusing on an all-around experience with features such as a 90Hz display, 30W fast charging, and 5G connectivity.
Most of the phone details are being held for today's announcement, which will take place on YouTube at 3pm BST/10am EDT. However, last-minute rumors from Mukul Sharma on Twitter seem to have filled in all the gaps that OnePlus intentionally left in the Nord CE's specs.
According to Sharma's tweet, the Nord CE will be a 6.4-inch device with an FHD resolution display. Unlike the original Nord, the CE may feature a 3.5mm headphone jack to accommodate wired audio needs.
The three cameras on the back are said to be a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP mono camera for monochrome photography. This differs slightly from the previous Nord CE spec leak, which stated that the 2MP camera is a macro sensor. [However, the two sources are in agreement on the front camera, which is described as a 16MP selfie shooter. There is no sign of the ultra-wide angle selfie camera that was on the original Nord.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is expected to feature a Snapdragon 750G chipset with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. This is also slightly different from another rumor that mentioned there will be a 64GB storage option, but nothing of 12GB RAM or 256GB storage. The Nord CE 5G could have a 4,500mAh battery and the 30W wired already revealed by OnePlus fast charging will be included.
This stripped-down Nord sounds like a well-equipped competitor to the Google Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, or Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. The only problem is that, like the original Nord, according to Sharma this will not appear in the US, only Europe and India.
It is highly likely that the successors to the Nord N100 and Nord N10 will be available for US customers. Furthermore, with any luck, the Nord 2, which is beginning to be rumored, will come across the Atlantic when its time comes.
