It has been known for some time that "Indiana Jones 5" was in the works, but just as production was scheduled to begin in August, a bit of news broke. It turns out that filming will begin next week around Bamburgh Castle in England. [Harry Potter's first two films appeared as the prestigious Hogwarts, as did "Robin Hood: The Robin Hood/The Thief's Gold" and Downton Abbey's 2015 Christmas special.Deadline cites "sources close to the production" for the scoop on filming, and "local British press" are investigating the location.
According to the outlet, Harrison Ford has already been spotted near Pinewood Studios this week with Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Boyd Holbrook, and Seanette Renee Wilson.
While we don't know the details of the plot or the roles the actors will play (aside from the lead role of Indiana, of course), based on their casting history, it appears that Mats Mikkelsen or Thomas Kretschmann will play the villain.
As of now, "Indiana Jones 5" is still expected to be released on July 29, 2022. Fears that the pandemic would delay the release schedule appear to be unfounded so far, as it had not been changed as of March of this year.
James Mangold, director of "Logan," will take the megaphone and Steven Spielberg will serve as producer. Spielberg will serve as producer along with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel.
That's all we know so far, but expect more information to leak out as production begins next week!
