Beats Studio Buds have been leaked in all the usual ways, including FCC documents and sneaky photo leaks, but the latest look at Apple's unannounced wireless earbuds comes from a less mined source of technology news, LeBron James' Instagram It has been obtained from an unmined source.
The NBA player shared a snap of himself wearing what certainly appears to be Beats Studio Buds in white. This may not be a coincidence, as James is an investor in Beats and a supporter of the brand.
Before we get into the guerrilla marketing theory starring the L.A. Lakers' small forward, let's take a closer look at the Buds in question. The photo is not particularly high quality, but you can see what appears to be a touch sensor protruding thinly at an angle from James' ear.
This alone is enough to tell us that this is indeed a photo of the Beats Studio Buds; from what we've seen in previous image leaks, such as the animations found in the iOS beta, the Studio Buds have no wires, no over-ear hooks, and no existing Beats ear They deviate from the style of existing Beats earbuds.
Again, James' photos show neither, so he is probably wearing Beats Studio Buds, unless he happens to be wearing another unreleased wireless earphone that closely resembles the Beats Studio Buds.
But is this a frank blunder in which James made the mistake of being photographed wearing what may be a top-secret gift from his Beats friends? Or did a known Beats supporter intentionally add "official" publicity to an upcoming product that seems certain to be Beats Studio Buds? Perhaps, given the sudden but intense flood of leaks, Apple may have wanted to control things a bit without triggering a full announcement.
In any case, news of Beats Studio Buds keeps coming in.
