All signs point to Samsung's Galaxy Buds 2 being a lower-spec but more affordable alternative to the Galaxy Buds Pro, but it doesn't appear that Samsung is skimping on color options.
Dutch site GalaxyClub reports that Samsung has an even broader lineup than the Galaxy Buds Pro, with black, white, purple, and green Galaxy Buds 2s planned. In other words, this could be one of the best wireless earbuds available, unless you want the upcoming AirPods 3 as well as the pure white ones like Apple's AirPods.
Interestingly, these colors also match the rumored color options for Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to be available in black and green, and may be available in other colors; the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also said to be available in green and a "light violet" model, the latter of which could match the Galaxy Buds 2 Purple Edition which could match with the Galaxy Buds 2.
As GalaxyClub noted in its report, this could be a sign that the Galaxy Buds 2 will be specifically designed to complement Samsung's new foldable phones, just as the launch of the Galaxy Buds Pro was tied to the launch of the Galaxy S21 smartphone family Galaxy Buds 2 may be a sign that it will be designed to specifically complement Samsung's new foldable phones.
It would then not be surprising if the new earphones are released at the same time or very close to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. They might also be sold as a pre-order bonus for the phones or as part of a bundle.
Even if you are not interested in either of the upcoming Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Buds 2 will likely be priced lower than Samsung's recent headphones.
The model number is apparently SM-R177, which is less expensive than the more expensive noise-canceling Galaxy Buds Live (SM-R180) and Galaxy Buds Pro (SM-R190), and the less expensive Samsung Galaxy Buds (SM-R170) and closer to the Galaxy Buds Plus (SM-R175).
The exact release date is unknown, but this matching color report suggests that the Galaxy Buds 2 will be available at the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
