The Marvel Arena of Heroes live stream offers a unique opportunity to watch the worlds of Marvel and the NBA collide in a TV special - and you won't want to miss it.
New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson has been mistaken for a superhero since he was about 13 years old, as ESPN and Marvel present a live stream of this fascinating Marvel-themed matchup between the Warriors vs. Pelicans and Monday's NBA game against the Golden State Warriors will not help end that mess.
The broadcast will be anything but normal as Williamson and Steph Curry lead their teams in a regular NBA game. The live stream will feature favorite superheroes like Iron Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Black Widow, and announcers will make calls from a Marvel-inspired booth. The game will also use Marvel-style custom graphics along with 3D virtual characters and animation.
But the game is more than just raucous graphics and superhero cameos. Three players from each team will be selected to earn "Marvel Hero Points" for every point, rebound, assist, steal, or block they record. Conversely, points are deducted for turnovers and missed shots.
For the Pelicans, Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball will compete for Marvel points with the Warriors' Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins. At the end of the game, the player from the winning team with the most Marvel Hero Points will become the "First Marvel Champion."
The NFL used a similar idea in January to present a divisional playoff game between the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears in a tie-in with Nickelodeon. The broadcast used graphics that mirrored the children's entertainment network, and even featured a virtual slime cannon when a touchdown was scored.
