Today may finally be the day that Apple AirTags are launched, not only at the Apple Spring Loaded event, but images of AirTags accessories seem to have leaked as well.
The images come from Weibo leaker "UnclePan" (via AppleInsider) and show off a set of silicone straps that will likely be used to attach the AirTag tracker to something larger.
The straps resemble a design leaked late last year and reveal how Apple's trackers will be used to track various types of objects. The images also seem fairly clear.
You place the AirTag into a circular ring at the bottom of the strap and wrap it around a bag-like strap using the opening at the top.
Macrumors has also obtained images of similar straps, but these are said to be from a third-party accessory manufacturer, not Apple itself. While similar in design, they appear to snap around the AirTag to hold it more securely in place, rather than utilizing the elasticity of the strap itself.
Previous reports have suggested that the AirTag could be attached to an object using some sort of adhesive. However, there will obviously be situations where this is not really the best option. While other companies like Samsung and Tile have tracking products designed to attach to key chains, Apple has taken a different approach.
However, this is just one accessory, and Apple and its partners will likely have a much wider range of products to better utilize the Air Tag's capabilities. Leaked designs in the past include a clip with one side as a keychain, an Apple Watch strap, and a wristband.
Some of these designs are already for sale on various online marketplaces, including Walmart, etsy, and eBay.
Of course, we won't see the full range of accessories until Apple actually launches the tracker. It is rumored to take place during today's Spring Loaded event, but AirTags were also said to make an appearance at Apple's event late last year.
But the fact that we are seeing leaks of accessories is a very good sign. At the very least, it means that AirTags are not far off, even if Apple somehow did not reveal anything about AirTags at today's big event.
You can find out how to watch the Apple Spring Loaded event here. Rumor has it that Apple will show off AirTags along with an updated iPad Pro 2021 series, a new Apple TV, AirPods 3, and a redesigned iMac 2021 series.
