Samsung's next mid-range phone may be on the verge of release. Thanks to an unofficial rendering from reliable leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks), we have our first look at what the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will look like.

As you might expect for a phone that is a "fan edition" of the Galaxy S21, the phone wears a striking resemblance of its inspiration, with the same central pinhole selfie camera and traffic light-style triple camera array. According to Hemmerstoffer, the key difference is in the camera bump itself, which, unlike the S21's, is integrated into the phone's shell.

While the arrangement is similar, the fact that it is integrated into the frame means the end of the two-tone design seen on the Galaxy S21. In other words, we can expect the camera hump to be the same shade as the glass enclosure. According to previous leaks, there will be a choice of light green, white, gray, purple, and pink handsets.

We had previously heard that the Galaxy S21 FE could improve on the S21 family with the same 32MP front-facing camera found on the S20 FE. However, Hemmerstoffer did not mention camera specs other than to suggest that the rear camera will have a "possibly downgraded lens" due to the expected lower price.

Holding both models in one's hands, one important difference will be immediately apparent. According to Hemmerstoffer, the S21 FE is 4 mm taller and 3.3 mm wider than the S21, but the same thickness. This leads to a larger screen: 6.4" as opposed to the S21's 6.2" display.

In terms of cost, Hemmerstoffer says it will be in the "around $700" range, which sounds about right, given that it matches the launch price of the Galaxy S20 FE last October. While he has nothing to share regarding a release date, many have speculated that the S21's early arrival in January would be bumped up, with Fan Edition previously mooting the possibility of an August release date as well

. [It is possible that the devices will be announced together with Samsung's new folderable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, but it is also possible that Samsung will want to separate these announcements, as each device targets a different market.
