"Godzilla vs. Kong" is now available on HBO Max. The funny thing about streaming releases is that the studios only announce the date in commercials, and we never know the exact time the movie will be available online.
And the good news is that most people will be able to watch "Godzilla vs. Kong" any time they want starting March 31. Meanwhile, those who are not confined to their homes due to social distance are pushing this battle of the giants to the top of the international box office charts.
So, if you're ready to join the latest chapter of this franchise - yes, it goes back to the 2014 Godzilla movie - continue on to learn how to watch Godzilla vs. Kong as soon as possible.
"Godzilla vs. Kong" will be available on Wednesday, March 31 at 3:01 a.m. ET / 12:01 a.m. ET on HBO Max. Since its worldwide release on March 24, the film has already broken even at the international box office.
HBO Max confirmed this:
Unlike Black Widow and Disney Plus Premier Access, HBO Max will stream Godzilla vs Kong at no additional charge!
This is the same time frame as Wonder Woman 1984 and Little Things. Dune is one of the other blockbuster films scheduled to be released on HBO Max at the same time as its theatrical release.
Collider's Steven Weintraub writes that you may feel you are missing out at home, saying, "The Godzilla and Kong stuff is why you pay to see this movie on an IMAX screen."
On the more positive side, Brandon Davis (of the "Phase Zero" podcast) tweeted, "It's like 'Wild Speed' but with giant monsters."
Of course, those who take monsters seriously might agree with Forbes' Scott Mendelson, who described it as "fine." Before comparing it to Joss Whedon's "Justice League," he called "Godzilla vs. Kong" a "retrofitted and scaled-down 'orbital' film" for the "masses."
This is where all the excitement began. The official trailer clip for "Godzilla vs. Kong" begins with footage of Godzilla attacking the city and Kong being called upon to save humanity, but we see that he was knocked out before he got here.
If you care about the vulnerable humans in danger in Godzilla vs. Kong, know that Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights") and Millie Bobby Brown ("Stranger Things") are the top stars.
