If you're an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass subscriber, Team Xbox has an early weekend treat for you.
"Tekken 7," "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered," and "Civilization 6" are currently completely free downloads if you subscribe to either service.
The caveat here, unfortunately, is that this is a limited-time offer, and unlike most games added to Game Pass, these titles will not be around for several months; instead, you can only play these games until March 29.
On the bright side, this is a great selection of games. Tekken 7 is the latest in the long-running fighting game franchise and adds Polish Prime Minister Lidia Sobieska as a playable fighter.
"Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered" is an amped-up version of the classic racing game released on Xbox 360 in 2010. Released last November, the remastered version gives fans of high-adrenaline racing the perfect opportunity to race through the fictional Seacrest County while being chased by pursuers. One of the best arcade racers of the past decade.
"Civilization 6" is a deeply rewarding strategy game that will probably suck up your entire weekend if you get hooked. One of the most acclaimed games in the genre, it was originally released for the PC, but its console port is also at a high level. What makes "Civilization 6" stand out is the wealth of options available, whether it's negotiating peace or declaring war on your neighbors.
The game is playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S and can be downloaded from the console's Xbox Store or from Xbox.com. If you choose to purchase one of the titles after this free weekend, you will be able to continue your progress and, of course, retain any achievements you have earned.
Microsoft has been very active with Xbox Game Pass of late, adding 20 new Beseda games to the service earlier this month, and also announcing that the upcoming "Outriders" will be included in Game Pass from day one.
This is one of the great benefits of Microsoft's subscription service, and it's no wonder it's called "the best value in gaming."
