A new Razer laptop may be on the way that packs an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics into a compact chassis.
This is according to a tweet by regular leaker @rogame, who also claims that the laptop could be a 14-inch gaming-only machine. This would be a first for the hardware maker, as Razer's Blade gaming laptops have previously come in 13-, 15-, and 17-inch models.
Unfortunately, the leaked information did not reveal anything other than these key specs. However, just the fact that Razer may be joining AMD's CPU team would be a big step for the company.
At this time, only a few gaming laptops are available with the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX. In particular, the Asus ROG Strix G15 and the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15.
Razer has revamped the graphics cards in its latest Blade gaming laptops, adding an option for a laptop version of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series. However, Razer stuck with 10th generation Intel gaming notebook processors, as 11th generation H-series CPUs are not yet available.
So if you were to buy a new Razer Blade laptop now, you would get the latest graphics, but you would also be getting a processor that could quickly become obsolete. Offering a laptop with the latest AMD Ryzen mobile processors would avoid such a situation.
If Razer really does decide to go with both the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and RTX 3060, we could see compact gaming laptops with enough power to run games at very high frame rates at 1080p resolution
Raz is a compact, compact, and powerful laptop.
One wonders how Razer will cool such a powerful CPU in a compact chassis. However, Razer has managed to make a rather impressive laptop that is slim and looks much like a MacBook Pro machine.
Speaking of which, the MacBook Pro M1, with Apple's own M1 chip, offers very impressive performance. And the MacBook Pro 2021 looks like it could be even more powerful and come in a 14-inch form factor.
However, this rumored Razer laptop will likely successfully sew the divide between powerful productivity laptops and gaming machines. In other words, it could be a rival laptop for those who want a machine that can easily handle work and play and are not tied to either macOS or Windows 10. [But an all-new Razer laptop powered by AMD and Nvidia would be very welcome.
