WhatsApp is undergoing a major upgrade - this can save your time

We've all had that friend who wants to leave endless voice memos on WhatsApp. Fortunately, help may soon be on the way in the form of faster playback of notes.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing three different voice message playback speeds: 1.0x, 1.5x, and 2.0x. The feature is being tested on Android first, but the site claims that it will be included in future iOS builds.

WABetaInfo's famed leak team notes that the feature has not yet been released on WhatsApp's beta channels for Android or iOS.

However, from the screenshots, it appears that the feature is emerging from internal testing and will be available within a few weeks to users who have opted into the beta program for either platform via Testflight.

Perhaps the biggest update to WhatsApp is iPad support.

For years, people have asked why the WhatsApp app is not compatible with Apple's tablets. The answer was that WhatsApp only allows you to sign in to one device at a time and that a WhatsApp account must be tied to a cell phone number.

It is possible to access the WhatsApp web interface from the iPad browser (set to "desktop mode"), but this is not an ideal solution because you must first sign in with your cell phone.

However, WABetaInfo previously reported that it seems very likely that a dedicated iPad app will appear as part of an update that will allow users to use WhatsApp on multiple devices simultaneously. We expect an early appearance.
