The Realme GT 5G has an official name, specs, and release date. And it poses a clear danger to Samsung and Apple.

Realme also declared on Weibo and Twitter that the phone that was supposed to be called the "Race" is actually the "GT 5G" and will launch in China on March 4. From the looks of it, it will also be launched in the UK and will challenge the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung's Galaxy S21 Ultra in terms of both specs and price.

Previous leaks and announcements have revealed powerful hardware for Realme's first premium smartphone. Realme has now confirmed that the GT 5G will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset, the most powerful Android chip available today.

Perhaps the most impressive feature of the GT 5G, however, is its 6.8-inch 160 Hz display. This is the same frequency as the Galaxy S21 Ultra display and the frequency of the rumored iPhone 13 screen.

If this is not an impressive enough number, the GT also uses 125W of wired charging. We have yet to try a phone with this kind of charging speed, but given that we were impressed with the OnePlus 8T and Realme 7 Pro's 65W charging, 125W charging promises to be very impressive.

The battery capacity is also 5,000 mAh, so once you fill it up, it should last for a while.

Rounding out the flagship-level specs are 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, and Android 11. Also on the back is a 64MP main camera and two 13MP sensors with an ultra-wide angle lens and a telephoto lens.

Realme is still a newcomer in the UK, but even without an established name, this phone already looks like it has what it takes to be one of the best Android phones, and we eagerly await its March launch.
