The Fully Jarvis Bamboo standing desk I tested has a list price of $599, but at the time of this writing was selling for $509. However, the company allows you to customize your desk by increasing the size to 72 x 30 inches (a $280 upgrade), increasing the height range from 25.5 inches to 51 inches (an additional $20), adding a programmable memory controller (an additional $35), etc.

Other options include desk frame colors. Standard white, black, and silver are available, but more interesting colors such as indigo and purple are offered as a $20 option.

For those who don't like bamboo, standing desks with laminate tops (starting at $479), wood panels ($629), and hardwood ($1,399) are also available.

Like all standing desks, Fully has a range of accessories that can be added, including cable management trays, drawers, hooks, and even a bottle opener under the desk.

Like the Vari Electric Desk and Uplift, we like that all of Jarvis' motor-driven components are hidden in the legs (the more economically priced Flexispot has exposed motors). Overall, the design is streamlined.

Like the Flexispot, the Jarvis I reviewed had a bamboo surface that was durable and attractive. The desk can withstand a weight of 350 pounds and has two circular cutouts on the back to pass cables and other items through.

Fully Assembling both the Jarvis and the Uplift felt like they both came out of the same factory; they were not as easy to assemble as the Vari desk, which is a good thing because the Vari desk was a bit more expensive than the Uplift. Mainly because some of the Vari's support framework is already attached to the underside of the desk, so all you have to do is attach the legs and feet.

All in all, it took about 30 minutes to get the Fully Jarvis desk up and running. The kit came with three Allen wrenches, but I also needed my own Phillips screwdriver.

No complaints here: the Fully Jarvis desk went up and down quietly and smoothly over the entire range. Instead of having two buttons on one side, pressing the front side of the button lowers the desk and pressing the bottom side of the button raises it. It takes up the same space as the other desk controls, so there is no risk of accidental bumping.

With minimum and maximum heights ranging from 30 to 49.3 inches, respectively, the range is not as large as that of the Vari motorized desk, which can raise and lower from 25 to 50.5 inches. However, Jarvis can support up to 350 pounds, 150 pounds more than the Vari, and 200 pounds more than our favorite budget electric standing desk, the Flexispot EC1.

The complete Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk would be a solid addition to anyone's home office. It is solidly built, attractive, and can be customized in a variety of ways. In addition, it can withstand a considerable amount of weight. [But of the best standing desks, we like the Vari electric standing desk. It's about the same price for the same size model, but it's just as stylish (if not more so) and much easier to assemble.
