7 Best Shows like Ginny and Georgia on Netflix

"Ginny and Georgia" has become one of Netflix's most popular shows because of its blend of coming-of-age trials, complicated mother-daughter relationships, romantic intrigue, and criminal elements.

One of Netflix's best shows, "Ginny and Georgia" follows 30-year-old Georgia (Brian Howie), a single mother of 15-year-old Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and 9-year-old Austin (Diesel La Traka). After Georgia's ex-husband dies a suspicious death, they move to a rural New England town to start over.

Season 3 of "Ginny and Georgia" has not yet been announced, but it seems like only a matter of time. Still, even if Netflix renews the series, fans may not see it for a while. Two years have passed between seasons 1 and 2. Until then, they will have to enjoy the drama elsewhere.

Here's a list of shows like "Ginny and Georgia" to watch while you wait.

Even before it first aired, "Ginny and Georgia" was likened to "Gilmore Girls" because it revolves around a young mother in her 30s and her teenage daughter. Georgia even refers to herself and her mother as "Gilmore Girls but with bigger boobs." Lorelei Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) have a closer, warmer relationship. They are best friends who share a coffee addiction, a love of banter filled with pop culture references, and a love of romantic entanglements. Crime doesn't happen in Stars Hollow, but it is a cute New England town with quirky residents and a handsome, often grumpy coffee shop owner.

The show about a Texas football team is literally and figuratively miles away from Ginny and Georgia. However, Friday Night Lights has a similar spirit and explores many of the same themes, including parent-child relationships, teen angst, friendship, and love. (Fortunately) there is also a short criminal storyline. In addition, Scott Porter stars in both shows. If you're not interested in football, that's okay, because you'll be fascinated by the supportive marriage of coaches Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and Tammy Taylor (Connie Britton).
