The screen size of the iPhone 15 is expected to remain largely unchanged from the current generation, while the Pro model is widely expected to feature a larger display in 2024.
Many well-known leakers have made early predictions for the iPhone 16, with Ming-Chi Kuo stating that the device will be "slightly larger," and display analyst Ross Young giving the iPhone 16 Pro at 6.2 inches and Pro Max/Ultra at 6.8 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.8" for the Pro Max/Ultra.
Leaker Unknownz21 says future iPhones will be even larger, predicting 6.3" and 6.9" screen sizes earlier this month:
More recently, Apple informant Mark Gurman can also be added to the list In the latest issue of Gurman's Power On newsletter, this insider stated that the iPhone 16 Pro model will be "a few tenths of an inch larger diagonally," making it the largest iPhone ever.
Gurman said the larger size will make Apple more competitive with Samsung's larger-screen devices like the Galaxy S23 Plus (6.6 inches) and Galaxy S23 Ultra (6.9 inches), as well as better camera technology and higher-capacity batteries that It points out that this could free up internal space for hardware improvements.
This is not necessarily bad news for those who consider the current iPhone the perfect size to fit in their hands. Apple appears to be making amazing progress in reducing the bezel on the upcoming iPhone 15 Ultra, and much of this added screen space could fit within the existing frame without expanding the device's footprint too much.
The regular iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are expected to retain the 6.1" and 6.7" sizes of the current generation, so Apple's recent tradition of upselling Pro models from regular iPhone models will also continue.
Last year, Apple made the difference between Pro and non-Pro models more clear than ever by making the faster processor and Dynamic Island exclusive to Pro models. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will also feature subtle upgrades such as ProMotion and improved camera performance. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max also received subtle upgrades such as ProMotion and improved camera performance.
In short, while the larger screen size could be a reason to wait for the iPhone 16, this year's upgrades are not foolproof. iPhone 15 features expected to arrive this September include a move to USB-C, Dynamic Island for all, a new mute button, and a periscope camera for iPhone 15 Ultra models.
