My 5 Favorite New Movies on Hulu to Watch this Month

Based on Ian McEwan's novel of the same name, this brilliant and heartbreaking World War II saga is enlivened by a trio of outstanding British actors In the summer of 1935, sparks fly between Cecilia Tallis (Keira Knightley), a wealthy young woman, and Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), her housekeeper's son. A spark ignites between the two. Cecilia's 13-year-old sister Briony (Saoirse Ronan), jealous and confused, tells a lie that tears them apart.

Years later, as war rages in Europe, the three are still reeling from the consequences of that fateful summer night. Robbie enlists in the army and Cecilia trains to become a nurse. Their paths cross again, but tragedy looms. Meanwhile, Briony begs for forgiveness.

The Dietz family moves in: Charles (Geoffrey Jones), Delia (Catherine O'Hara), and their teenage daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder).The Maitlands want to get rid of them, so they seek help and "bioexorcist" Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton).

AI can't think of a film as wonderfully offbeat as Wes Anderson's debut. Bottle Rocket introduced audiences to Wes Anderson's unique style and momentum. It was also the acting debut of the Wilson brothers, who became Anderson's most frequent collaborators.

The caper follows Anthony (Luke Wilson) as he is "rescued" from a mental institution by his overzealous friend Dignan (Owen Wilson). They embark on a series of robberies, beginning with a raid on Anthony's parents' house. Together with their neighbor Bob (Robert Musgrave), they embark on a journey to find Dignan's old boss, Mr. Henry (James Caan), in order to carry out an even more elaborate plan.

A romantic comedy can work with a thin plot if the cast is engaging. And "Crazy, Stupid, Love" has a big-name charmer cast that includes Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, and Marisa Tomei.

Cal (Carell) has a seemingly perfect life until his wife Emily (Moore) has an affair and wants a divorce. One night he meets Jacob (Gosling) at a bar. Jacob is well-spoken and offers to teach Cal how to pick up women. However, Jacob has just recently been rejected by Hannah (Stone), which doesn't always go well. Later, Cal and Jacob's romantic adventures intertwine in unexpected ways.

Nearly 30 years before "Everywhere All at Once" won an Academy Award, "The Joy Luck Club" was an Asian identity and explored the theme of complex mother-daughter relationships. Adapted from Amy Tan's best-selling novel, the film tells universal truths about love, loss, and hope that transcend generations and continents.

The vignettes revolve around four older Chinese women (Kieu Chin, Tsai Chin, France Nguyen, and Lisa Lu) and their American-raised daughters (Minna Wen, Tamlin Tomita, Lauren Tom, and Rosalind Chao). Flashbacks reveal the mothers' hidden painful pasts, which in turn illuminate contemporary conflicts.
