7 New Movies and Shows to Watch This Weekend on Netflix, Max, Hulu and More (Dec. 15-17)

Elizabeth II, Barbie, and Taylor Swift. They top the list of the biggest new movies and shows to watch this weekend. As always, Netflix, Max, Hulu, and other streaming services have announced a slate of fresh content for your viewing pleasure.

As noted, this weekend sees the conclusion of "The Crown" (time to meet Kate Middleton), the Max debut of "Barbie," and the premium VOD release of the extended edition of Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour" movie.

Plus, "Reacher" Season 2 brings back the former military giant vigilante, and "Archer" bids farewell with a finale special. Check out our guide to this weekend's highlights.

Long Live the Queen: ...... In Our Memory. As we all know, Queen Elizabeth II died last year after reigning for 70 years. And with her death comes the final chapter in Peter Morgan's fictionalization of her story.

Part 1 of Season 6 dealt with the tragic death of Princess Diana, and Part 2 will see Prince William (Ed McVey) and Prince Harry (Luther Ford) face their own loss. We also witness the blossoming romance between Will and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy) when they meet at the University of St. Andrews.

Morgan has not stated how he will conclude the series, but our guess is that it will continue until 2002, when the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret died and Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Golden Jubilee.

Available on Netflix

Former military cop giant Jack Reacher is on the road again, applying his special skills to new crimes involving new people in new places. Lee Childs' book is essentially an anthology, and series creator Nick Santora has indicated that he will adhere to that structure.

Season 2 will adapt the eleventh film, "Bad Luck and Trouble," which involves Reacher in a plot to kill his old friend. Robert Patrick ("Terminator 2") will star as Langston, a former NYPD officer who now works for a defense contractor.

This BBC co-production comes from British comedian Cat Sadler's wicked sense of humor. She, along with her own sister Lizzie Davidson and veteran actress Louise Brearley, also star in the series. Josie, Billy, and single mother Deb go through life tied to people who don't care about them, with only a lack of judgment and self-esteem issues to deal with. They are vain, narcissistic, selfish, and heavily in debt. Yet they are still trying to claw their way toward a better life and the all-consuming love they crave.

Available on Hulu on Friday, December 15 at 0:01 a.m.

The world's greatest spy on his last mission. The long-running animated comedy concludes its 14th season with a series finale event that sends Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin), Lana (Aisha Tyler), Cyril (Chris Parnell), and other characters off into the sunset.

Plot details are thin, but season 14 ended with the CIA learning that the UN has declared all private spy agencies illegal and ordered them to be shut down within 30 days. Within that time frame, something or someone will endanger the world, and Archer and his team will once again be on the hook. And they would create a storm.

Premieres Sunday, December 17 at 10 p.m. ET on FX and FXX (via Sling or Fubo). Streaming the next day on Hulu

There are many possible directions a Barbie-themed film could go, but Gerwig decided on something surreal, small, giddy, and yet slightly mendacious. Barbie (Margot Robbie) has the perfect life, with the perfect house and the perfect boyfriend, Ken (Ryan Gosling). But an existential crisis forces Barbie to turn to the outside world.
