As this year comes to a close, many are looking to the future that awaits them in the coming year. But when it comes to NXT, a part of the WWE Universe, the coaches and officials (including WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels) are always concerned about the future. After all, their roster includes stars from Raw, Smackdown, and the next breakout show at Lesslmania.
But before WWE bids farewell to 2023, a year of hard-hitting matches, unforgettable moments, and incredible, unexpected returns that never in a million years seemed possible, NXT's superstars are at the last WWE Premium Live event of the year Ready to Shine: the NXT Deadline. The second PLE will take place on December 9, 2023 at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
And like last year's inaugural event, the show will feature the Iron Survivor Challenge for both the men's and women's divisions. In this totally unique match, five competitors will compete for the most points in 25 minutes. Points are earned when a wrestler is the victim of a pinfall, submission, or disqualification. Once a point is awarded, the opponent goes into the penalty box for 90 seconds, during which time no points can be taken. At the end of the match, the wrestler with the most points will be the number one contender in his class.
This may be hard to understand, but once you actually see the rules, it will be much easier to understand. But to do so, you need to know how to tune in. Fortunately, all such important details are here.
While Peacock is available throughout the United States and the WWE Network is still the standard worldwide (although that is changing), the WWE NXT Deadline 2023 live stream can be a bit confusing. You may want to check your VPN if you can't watch it on your regular service.
International audiences will be quite jealous of US audiences who save cash by switching to Peacock (unless you get the ad-free tier for $9.99/month).
The best VPN is ExpressVPN. It meets the VPN needs of most users and offers excellent compatibility with most devices and impressive connection speeds.
WWE premium live events like WWE NXT Deadline are streamed exclusively on Peacock in the US. These are included in both the Premium and Premium Plus tiers of the streaming service.
However, subscribing to the ad-free option makes no difference, as WWE's live productions include commercials.
Peacock is available now for $1.99 per month. This deal is only available to new subscribers, but lasts for one year. An even better deal is the annual Peacock plan for $19.99.
Our friends in the UK can watch a live stream of WWE NXT Deadline 2023 on the WWE Network for a higher price, closer to the $9.99 Americans were paying.
It is also available on BT Sport Box Office for £14.95.
Americans abroad can watch it on Peacock using ExpressVPN (there is no WWE on Peacock in the UK).
The live stream of WWE NXT Deadline 2023 begins Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. (AEDT).
All at Binge, the new official home of WWE premium live events in Australia.
Binge has three tiers of pricing, starting at A$10 per month:
"Auld Lang Syne" is the typical anthem heard around the world at the end of the year, but wrestlers do not forget old acquaintances so easily. In fact, feuds can last for years, even decades. But in an attempt to squash some beef in NXT, Deadline will feature some grudge matches on the card.
First, Roxanne Perez, who defeated Kiana James in a Devil's Playground match at Halloween Havoc, had to deal with her opponent, who still causes problems for her. James squashed Perez's chance to become a two-time Iron Survivor, giving the prodigy a much-needed run for his money.
Payback being fair play, Perez returned the favor, and the two went at each other's throats in the weeks that followed until they were given the opportunity to vent their frustrations in the steel cage. Both men have won NXT gold in the past and have handled business in the ring They have shown time and time again that they are capable of handling business in the ring. However, Perez has shown a meaner side of late, which may give him the edge in this grueling matchup.
While the problems between Perez and James appear to be personal, none are more personal than those between Carmelo Hayes and Lexis King. The latter is a newcomer to the black and gold brand, openly renouncing the legacy of his Hall of Fame father, Brian Pillman, and trying to carve his own way in the industry.
He then quickly intervened in the business of former NXT champion and longtime friend Trick Williams. The duo had recently experienced growing pains as Williams proved his dominance as a singles competitor, but things got worse when Trick was attacked and was unable to compete in the Fatal 4 Way to win a chance to face Ilja Dragunov for the NXT title at Halloween Havoc
The event was not held in the same venue as the NXT Championship.
Despite the accusations, Melo insisted that he was not the one who attacked his best friend. Then, upon King's debut, he caused a stir by saying that he had helped Hayes in the attack. In order to prove his innocence and remove the big thorn in his side, King, Hayes is determined to defeat his deadline opponent and prove to Williams where his loyalties lie. Despite the saying "Melo don't miss," the talented superstar has suffered a few heavy defeats recently. Besides, King definitely lives in the heads of his opponents. Normally, it's not best to bet against Hayes, but there's a good chance he could take the L this weekend. And if it goes really badly, the outcome of this match could even affect Williams' performance at the Iron Survivor Challenge.
Speaking of really bad, that is one way to describe the situation surrounding the NXT North American Title. Initially, Judgement Day's Dominic Mysterio was scheduled to defend his title against Wes Lee. Unfortunately, the Cardiac Kid injured his back and will need surgery and an 8-12 month recovery period.
This is obviously a devastating development, as Lee's crusade to regain the North American title from Mysterio had been ongoing since the summer. While Lee has taken a break from his in-ring career to recuperate, another fierce competitor is trying to take Lee's place in an attempt to take a shot at Dirty Dom, thanks to WWE Hall of Famer and LWO leader (and Dominic's father) Rey Mysterio, who has injured Dragon Lee fighter's replacement to take on the challenge of overthrowing the nefarious champion. But Dom's Judgement Day friends are always lurking, and the deck is stacked against the master of 619 and the future of Lucha Libre.
Finally, no NXT Deadline prediction is complete without predicting the winner of the Iron Survivor Challenge match. Both fields are loaded with top-tier talent, and all ten have incredible potential and have proven time and again that they can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best this brand has to offer.
Any of the wrestlers could have a great match with their respective champions. However, in my opinion, I feel that it is the right time for Tyler Bate and Fallon Henry to step into the spotlight for the long haul. Both have worked hard to get where they are and are no strangers to NXT gold. Big Strong Boi and NXT's Top Shelf have come a long way since their WWE debut. Even though Tiffany Stratton and Trick Williams are the favorites to win, it would be a welcome surprise if Henry and Bate could pull off a victory.
