If you're holding off on upgrading to the best iPad yet, you're in luck, as a new report from Bloomberg reveals that Apple will completely revamp both its iPad Air and iPad Pro lines early next year.
Apple's iPad is one of the best tablets, but unfortunately, sales are down due to the fact that no new models were released this year, while consumer tech spending is also down.
According to sources who spoke off the record with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the iPhone maker is looking to change all that next year with a slew of new iPad Air and iPad Pro models that could be released in March along with iPad OS 17.4.
To give potential buyers more choices, Apple will reportedly offer the new iPad Air in two sizes for the first time ever; while the current version with a 10.9-inch screen will be updated, a 12.9-inch version will also be added to the lineup . For those who do not want to spend more than $1,000 on an iPad Pro just for a larger screen, this larger iPad Air will likely be significantly cheaper.
As for the iPad Pro 2024, it is said to have a significantly upgraded display and will be the first iPad with an OLED screen. This news coincides with reports last month that revealed that the iPad Pro's OLED display will go into production next February. This is enough time to launch these new devices by the end of March 2024.
These new iPad Pro tablets with OLED displays will likely not be cheap. That's why it makes a lot of sense for Apple to add a 12.9-inch iPad Air to its iPad lineup; more will be revealed about all iPad releases in 2024 in the months leading up to the official launch in March.
Apple announced the new MacBook Pro and new iMac with M3 chips in October, but the MacBook Air still has the older M2 chip. 2024 will see the MacBook Air M3 along with the new iPad Air and iPad Pro This will change, as they are scheduled to.
Like these new iPads, the MacBook Air M3 will be announced at the same time as the macOS update, and as Gurman points out, Apple's new laptops are being developed simultaneously with macOS 14.3. new laptops are being developed alongside macOS 14.3. However, there will be no new size options, as these new MacBook Air devices will continue to be available in both 13-inch and 15-inch versions.
In addition to the new iPad and upgraded MacBook Air, Apple also plans to release a new Magic Keyboard with a sturdier aluminum frame to make the iPad Pro look more like a laptop replacement Magic Keyboard will apparently have two new versions, plus a revamped version of the Apple Pencil. Apple released a low-cost version of the Apple Pencil with USB-C in November, and this new Pencil will be its high-end version.
If these new devices are not enough, don't forget that the Apple Vision Pro, which the company positions as the future of computing, will finally be released next year. Between the OLED iPad Pro, the faster MacBook Air, new accessories, and the first mixed reality device, Apple may be able to turn around this year's sales slump. If not, the iPhone 16 will be released at the end of 2024.
