New this week: what to watch on Netflix, Hulu, and more (Nov. 20-26)

What shall we watch tonight and the rest of the week? Ahead of the big feast, a buffet of new shows will be available on Netflix, Hulu, and other major streaming services, as well as on broadcast and cable TV.

New shows this week include the premiere of "Fargo" season 5, the reality game show "Squid Game" (based on the hit Korean drama: The Challenge), and the holiday movie "The Velveteen Rabbit." In addition, David Tennant will return as a Time Lord in "Doctor Who": Starbeast.

Here are the new shows to watch this week.

After a very long three-year hiatus, the crime anthology finally returns. As usual, creator Noah Hawley has assembled a killer cast: Jon Hamm, Juno Temple, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Joe Keely, Ramone Morris, and more. The latest film is set in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019. A series of unforeseen events leads Dot (Temple) to be hunted by the authorities, and a seemingly typical Midwestern housewife re-enters the life she thought she had abandoned.

Premieres Tuesday, November 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX (via Sling or Fubo). Episodes will stream on Hulu the following day

Speaking of long hiatuses, it has been four years since comedian Mike Birbiglia's last special, The New One. He has finally released his new film, The Old Man and the Pool. In a tight 85 minutes, Birbiglia tackles life's big questions in his best narrative voice. What's next? And how much chlorine is put in the YMCA pool?

While we wait for Squid Game Season 2, Netflix will host a real-world competition - all the games seen in the hit Korean drama and hefty cash prizes, but the dead won't be (phew). In the game show version of "Squid Game," 456 players will compete for a $4.56 million prize. Like the fictional series, including "Red Light, Blue Light," directed by legendary animatronic puppet Yeonhee, they will endure a series of childhood games. In the process, alliances are formed and betrayals are made.

Director Baz Luhrmann is redoing his 2008 film "Australia," which failed at the box office. The director revisited the footage and presented a miniseries consisting of six chapters. This epic romance follows Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), an English aristocrat who travels to the Australian outback to force her wayward husband to sell his million-acre ranch.
