Just in time for the holiday season, Facebook has announced the new Oculus Quest 2. This standalone virtual reality headset starts at $299, $100 less than the original Oculus Quest.
Pre-orders for the Oculus Quest 2 are now available at the Oculus Store and will begin shipping on October 13. The base model comes with 64GB of storage and two controllers. The step-up model costs $399 and comes with 256GB of internal storage.
The new headset replaces the original Oculus Quest, which was the best VR headset on the market. However, the new model is 10% lighter than the first version.The Oculus Quest 2 also features a display with a resolution of 1832 x 1920 (per eye) at 90 Hz and comes with two redesigned controllers. 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB) and Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 platform.
Pre-orders for the Oculus Quest 2 can currently only be placed through the Oculus Store. However, it will soon be available for pre-order on Amazon, B&H Photo, Newegg, and Verizon.
