"Halo Infinite," which will be released on the Xbox Series X, will look better than when it was shown at the Xbox Games Showcase.
This is according to Xbox marketing manager Aaron Greenberg, who claimed in an interview with Inside Gaming's Alana Pearce that the demo shown at the showcase was from an early build of the game; Pearce later elaborated further on his comments in a second video (via Wccftech).
"We are in the middle of a global pandemic. It's July, far from the holidays, and we're looking at an ongoing game.
"Having said that, you've probably seen the 1080p stream. So we have a 4K 60 [fps] on-demand stream for you to watch the game in 4K, 60 fps."While Greenberg says the game is still a work in progress, he also puts some of the blame for the negative publicity on the quality of the event stream. He said, "It's very difficult to show you the power and graphic fidelity of the Xbox Series X in a stream, so watch it in 4K, 60fps, and you'll see the game in a very different way.
"The only thing I can tell you is that this is an ongoing process. What you're seeing today, and I can tell you this because I see check-in builds every week, they (343 Industries) are making progress week after week. It's going to keep getting better and better from now until the holidays."
The reason for fan criticism seems to be a mixture of art style and graphic fidelity. However, this will not be acceptable in the face of a new generation of consoles, where the gaming world will increasingly focus on realism.
At least there seems to have been little disagreement about how the game will be played; Halo Infinite will be the first open-world title in the series, and Master Chief will be equipped with a grappling hook in addition to the usual human and alien weapons equipped with a grappling hook. Combined with the series' return to the Halo ring setting that began with Halo: Combat Evolved, it is a good mix of nostalgia and innovation.
The Xbox Series X is expected to hit store shelves this November, and the PS5 will no doubt launch around the same time; the two consoles share features such as SSD storage and ray-traced graphics, but the Xbox Series X will have a more powerful GPU, while the PS5 will have a more powerful graphics processor, and the Xbox Series X will have a more powerful graphics processor, cross-platform purchasing through Smart Delivery, while Sony is emphasizing the PS5's redesigned DualSense controller and 3D audio for an immersive experience.
