Samsung Galaxy Tab S6Lite is a cheap iPad alternative you?Ve been waiting

Samsung has quietly taken the cover off its new budget Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, which could compete with Apple's iPad.

The new tablet appeared on Samsung's Indonesian online store (via TechRadar), showing off a tablet that looks a lot like the iPad Pro 2020. However, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is designed to look more like a cheaper version of the 2019 Galaxy Tab S6 rather than a premium flagship device.

With a 10.4-inch display, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has slightly less screen space to play with than its older sibling. However, the 2000 x 1200 resolution display should provide adequate sharpness and clarity.

For those who like to take pictures with their tablets, the Tab S6 Lite has an 8MP rear camera. It is on par with the iPad Air, though not quite as good as the dual cameras on the new iPad Pro. The front camera is a 5MP lens, which is fairly standard for a tablet, if a bit middling

Other interesting design features include the use of dual speakers, which Samsung claims provide 3D sound and are Dolby Atmos certified. They can be stored in the optional "Book" cover compartment of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, but there is no neat integrated groove to hold a stylus as there is on the Tab S6.

Inside, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite has an octa-core processor combined with 4GB of RAM, with a top speed of 2.3Ghz. Samsung did not mention what chipset its new tablet will use, but it seems likely to be the Exynos 9611 found in other budget Samsung devices like the Galaxy A51.

Onboard storage is available in 64GB and 128GB options, and a micro SD slot can support up to 1TB of additional storage space. 4G LTE connectivity is also supported, useful for those who want to take their tablet away from Wi-Fi hotspots. Also, with a 7,040mAh battery, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is capable of up to 13 hours worth of video playback, according to Samsung.

Since this is a Samsung device, it comes with the company's Knox "defense-grade" security, which may be useful for those who plan to use the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite for work.

While there is no information on pricing or availability, listings like this indicate that the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite will be available soon, given that the Galaxy Tab S6 cost $649 at launch and had more powerful specs than its Lite sibling, Tab S6 Lite is expected to be a bit cheaper.

Until pricing is confirmed, it is impossible to know how Samsung's tablet will fare against the standard iPad and iPad Air. However, what it may lack in powerful specs, it will make up for in sleek design, a bundled S Pen, and a potentially attractive price.
