It's December and the year 2022 is just around the corner. That means it is almost time for Samsung to announce the Galaxy S22 series. The regular and Plus models are expected to be almost identical to the previous Galaxy S21 models, but the Galaxy S22 Ultra is very intriguing.
Previous leaks and rumors have suggested that Samsung may bring back the Galaxy Note in the form of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. From the very similar design to the built-in S Pen, this phone could be the device Note fans have been waiting for (since the Galaxy Note 21 never materialized).
On Twitter, Ice Universe posted a photo purportedly showing off the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The tweet had no comments or sources, only a photo of the phone in a clear case. These photos do not show the S22 Ultra in its entirety, but some information can be gleaned from them.
Remember, as with all leaks, what is presented here should be taken with skepticism. First, there is a significant difference in the appearance of the camera module compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Gone are the metal contours that blend into the phone's frame. Instead, we see that each lens is placed flush with the back of the phone and independent without a specific housing.
The design of this phone recalls the design language of the Galaxy Note. With its blocky appearance and flat top and bottom, this device looks more like a Note than a Galaxy S device, and given that the S Pen is rumored to be built in, perhaps Samsung is hoping to extend an olive branch to Note fans who were left out by the death of their beloved phone family. Perhaps they are hoping to extend an olive branch.
We don't know where Ice Universe got these photos, so we don't know where the case makers (who seem to be the source of these photos) got the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It could be a dummy model based on a design sent to us by Samsung, or it could be that the manufacturer is using something completely different.
As for what to expect, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will likely have a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz. The North American model should be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, and Samsung appears to have its own Exynos 2200 chip for other markets.
Other rumors suggest that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a 108MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, a 10MP 10x telephoto lens and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens. Ice Universe also leaked additional information regarding camera specifications.
