According to new rumors, the Google Pixel Watch will not be part of today's Google Pixel 6 announcement. But Pixel fans have nothing to fear.
Leaker Jon Prosser tweeted in response to a follower's inquiry about MIA Google wearables: he said, "Don't expect (a Pixel Watch) at tomorrow's event," referring to today's Google Pixel 6 event He added: "Last I heard. He added: "Last I heard, it's been delayed until Q1 2022.
Prosser later noted that this is not the first time he has made this claim. In a video on his YouTube channel Front Page Tech, he also noted that Google had planned to debut the Watch in October (at the same time as the Google Pixel 6), but its launch was pushed back to the first quarter of next year.
Wearables enthusiasts are interested in what Google's first smartwatch will look like. With Google's major revamp of its Wear OS software, its partnership with Samsung to include it in the Galaxy Watch 4, and its acquisition of Fitbit, the Mountain View company appears to be in a good place to offer a competitive Android smartwatch. It could even compete with the king of the best smartwatches, the Apple Watch 7.
While information on the Pixel Watch's features and exact release date seems to have eluded leakers, we at least have an idea of the potential design of the Google Watch. two different sources (James Tsai and RendersbyIan/Jon renderings from Prosser) both show a round-faced watch.
It is possible that Google's big product launch event today will make some mention of the wearable, or that it will somehow tease the Pixel Watch without formally announcing it. However, the latest leaks suggest that expectations for Google's wearables news will need to be tempered for a few months yet.
